How a child becomes a scholar — and what a scholarship funds.

The Tri-Arch Framework
To find and select the right children, our framework measures three distinct dimensions — weighed together, never in isolation.
Intellectual Brilliance — The Mind
We do not look exclusively at a perfect academic score. Standardised testing and school results often measure a family’s wealth rather than a child’s raw processing power. We look for:
- Profound curiosity. A self-driven obsession with a topic — a child who has taught themselves advanced calculus or quantum physics via a smartphone in a rural village.
- Creative problem solving. The ability to connect disparate ideas, think laterally, and question conventional wisdom.
- Academic and intellectual output. Olympiad placements, unconventional essays, coding projects, or independent research.
Spiritual Maturity — The Soul
Spiritual maturity is decoupled from dogmatic religion. We define it as a child’s relationship with the collective human experience, their inner landscape, and moral virtue. It is measured through:
- Deep empathy and altruism. A proven record of serving others despite having very little themselves — organising community care, protecting the vulnerable, demonstrating radical kindness.
- Existential reflection. An awareness of purpose and ethics, and a desire to use one’s mind to alleviate human suffering or elevate human consciousness.
- Emotional fortitude. Inner peace, mindfulness, and the ability to process personal trauma without projecting bitterness onto the world.
Resilient Breakthrough — The Grit
This is the catalytic element. The applicant must prove they have already begun to crack the concrete of the environment they were born into.
- Resource maximisation. How much did they achieve with what little they had?
- Overcoming constraints. Evidence of maintaining intellectual curiosity while dealing with severe financial difficulties, lack of parental support, or geographic isolation.
The Scoring Matrix
Every finalist is scored against the same matrix. A minimum threshold in each category, and a minimum total, is required for admission.

Financial need is assessed separately, through the Financial Difficulties Index: net family income per capita is compared against 1.5× the national financial difficulties threshold, with adjustments for medical debt, cost of living, and single-parent or orphaned status.
Two tiers, matched to circumstance.
The Lumina Scholarship
- Target
- Students facing extreme financial difficulties — orphans, or severe rural hardship — with world-class potential.
- Coverage
- 100% of tuition, school supplies, and a laptop allowance, plus a monthly stipend for food and housing.
The Catalyst Scholarship
- Target
- Students from low-income working families who can cover basic food but cannot afford university tuition or high-school boarding.
- Coverage
- 50% to 75% of tuition fees, paid directly to the educational institution.
Disbursement is direct-to-institution only. No large sums are handed to families in cash; tuition is wired to schools and universities, and stipends are loaded onto a restricted, foundation-issued card mapped to approved categories — groceries, books, and public transit.
The Ascent
Four phases, designed so that a child is judged on their potential before anything else is known about them.
Blind application review
Names, genders, and locations are stripped from every application. The Board of Trustees scores intellectual portfolios and the Resilience Essay out of 100 points; the top 20% advance.
Financial and background verification
Compliance officers review the financial documentation of the top 20%. Applicants who do not meet the economic threshold are gracefully filtered out.
The holistic interactive panel
A 60-minute, multi-disciplinary conversation in three parts: a 25-minute Intellectual Defence, a 25-minute Character and Soul Dialogue, and a 10-minute Psychological Resilience Check conducted by a child psychologist.
Scoring and ratification
Finalists are ranked on the Scoring Matrix, and the Board of Trustees ratifies the final scholarship list.
